A friend and I are visiting all of the Catholic Churches in the Western Neighborhoods as part of the Year of Mercy. We have visited the churches in the Sunset, Parkside, West Portal, Sunnyside and Ingelside.
It is a sad state of affairs that the churches are now kept locked. We ring the doorbell at the Parish Office and staff lets us in.
I loved St Emydius. The Pastor gave us a history of the Parish. Did you know that St. Emydius is the patron saint of earthquake survivors? After the 1906 earthquake, people lived in tents, then bought lots and built homes.
