I have always respected Miss Fusselman. I failed her 9th grade English class. I deserved a failing grade. I refused to turn in the homework. Miss Fusselman was actually very kind to me. She pleaded with me to at least turn in some of the work. She showed me exactly how little I would have to turn in to pass. She almost cried. She tried every way she could to get me to see what I was doing to myself. I refused and I earned the failing grade. I learned good solid basics from her. She laid out the rules and stuck to them. I wish we had more teachers like her today. She knew her job was to teach English, not be my buddy. I eventually matured.
