Re: What was it like inside home during '89 quake?

Our home was totally fine. I don't think any structures had real noticeable damage in the Outer Richmond.

We were in the middle of a remodel, and all that really happened is that some doorknobs fell off a shelf. We did end up adding reinforcements to the house, because ours is something of a 'soft-story' house.

We didn't have any cracking or crumbling walls or stuck doors like you suggest, that I can remember. It's probably hard to imagine a quake like '89 if you haven't experienced one like it, but while it was very strong, it was also somewhat short, and the actual damage in many parts of the city was not very significant.
