I last visted Skateland with my kids about 1969 or so. It was at that time, much as I remembered it from quite a few years before, very enjoyable afternoon....I found that my legs, (which had not skated for about 15 years), were a little rubbery, but gradually rose to the occasion. (I don't think I'd try it now), but my memories of Skateland are fond ones.
Remember the "sealed-off" storefront area just north of Skateland, terminating in the little windmill at the foot of the "fake cliffs"? That area was one of my favorite rides as a child, called, "The Red Bug". It was an indoor-outdoor grotto with little gasoline engined cars that you drove around a closed circuit.....
