The "nautical" building is, I believe, 1360 Montgomery St., up on the east side of Telegraph hill. Said apartment house can be found on Google's map of the area. Very classy looking, with art deco, nautical decor.
A Bogart/Bacall movie, "Dark Passage" featured the place. I think you can still see Bogart as he stands by an upstairs window, observing the passing parade.
