I'll take ya, Candis!
I actually only drove through once, circa 1968 in a "borrowed" VW. Today, of course, instead of exiting at Castro and Market, we'd have to go all the way to somewhere around Howard and The Embarcadero... I think our odds of getting caught would be greater today, but, on the other hand, we'd make a fun headline! <g>
And once - and only once - I hung on the back of a streetcar from West Portal to Forest Hill. Scared the ever-lovin'-poop out of me. We used to hop on all the time as 13 year olds, but flying through that tunnel was an experience I did not enjoy.
