Yes, Candis, I really did drive a VW through the tunnel all the way to Castro Street. Lights off exiting the tunnel so we didn't draw attention to ourselves. It was rather bumpy, but not nearly as bumpy as hanging on the back of that damned car to Forest Hill. You described it perfectly - the bouncing and swaying as they approached Muni Warp Speed. It scared the bejeezus out of me and was the last time I ever hung on a streetcar. Period.
And Italy... ::sigh:: It was the trip of all trips, for sure. We had more fun than can ever be recounted. I still want to hit Milan for an opera at La Scala. That's definitely a dream. But I'm now planning a trip for 2014 to Sicily for our 20th Anniversary. Somewhere along the southeastern end of the island - a palazzo in the shadow of Etna with a view of the Mediterranean...
I've already started saving my pennies...
