Fond memories of El Sombrero after watching Woody & Dave's new History Minute. They're getting as good as Siskel & Ebert. Seems we started eating there in ~1967 when my sister had a boyfriend on 27th & Lake. What I recall were their hand-made tortillas and cheese encheladas with sour cream. Unlike Woody, I thought the place was a bit upscale compared to my favorite, The Bull Pup.
There is an interesting link that answers many questions about this haunt http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/23942
Any of you recall this eatery and have a line on the best Mex in SF now that so many old favorites are morte?
Hasta la queso,
jb
