I don't think this will be the end of the opposition, so there may still be a ray of hope here. One argument could be that Golden Gate Park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as of 2004 and perhaps there may be some legal guidelines that could disallow the addition of "stadium lighting" as this would add NOTHING to preserve the historical value of The Park. I'm no lawyer and realize I am just grasping at straws here, but who knows?
All I am saying is there just has to be some "fight" left in the citizens of San Francisco (the way it used to be) and I envision an old-fashioned SAVE OUR PARK MOVEMENT rising up to fight City Hall on this...that is my hope anyway. Maybe it's time to dig out our old tie-dyed t-shirts and bell-bottom jeans...hmmm, maybe it could be a future WNP history walk.
