Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to just kill--uh, I mean trap and release--the gophers? Sometimes dealing with the real problem brings about the best solution, but not always. A friend of mine told me about a proposal to bring back "native species" to the grounds of the Presidio. After much research, the committee was more than a bit surprised to discover that the primary "native species" was poison oak. Oh well, back to the drawing board...
