How many remember the Fuller Brush Man? He always had a little give-away something. Their products were good, too. Loved their hair brushes, brooms and many other items.

Others have mentioned the ice-man delivering 25lb or 50lb chunks of ice for the ice-box. Place the card in the window turned a certain way to let him know what size ice you needed. As I got older, my job was to empty the pan at the bottom of the ice box that held the melted ice water.

As for vegetables, I didn't mention canned beets, both regular and pickled - I loved the pickled beets, artichokes, spinach and saurkraut - still do. Must be the Slovak and/or German genes making themselves known.

I'm getting hungry for a hot dog & saurkraut!
