Mary-Ann - I did a little poking around on the internet. Sadie Hawkins (the Al Capp character)Day was celebrated in November. Somehow, it transitioned over to Leap Day as well and Sadie Hawkins dances (high school and college) were held on Leap Day, or another day in a non-Leap Year.
Aside from SF State, I'm now wondering if any of our other Western Neighborhood schools ever held a Sadie Hawkins dances? (I don't recall, but I'm sure others will.)
