Hi Tom. The siren was badly damaged some years back by workers on the Ferry Building tower who didn't realize its significance. They gave it some terrible whacks while trying to dislodge it, apparently turning it into something resembling scrap metal.
I believe siren was later taken to the SF Maritime National Historical Park to see if their staff could restore it, or at least save it for posterity.
