'The Quarry'

In the shared email recollections of my St. Cecilia classmates, there was a comment, as follows:

"I remember, "Hoover" before there was a Hoover School. We called it the "quarry". The 'quarry' covered 8-10 empty city blocks with hills, rocky cliffs, trees, trails and caves. In the winters there were creeks."

Many others chimed in and shared stories of climbing all over that place, building forts, etc. I never went there because it was too distant, as far as my folks were concerned. I did try and find references to The Quarry, or the area before it was built over, on this site, but to no avail.

I'm sure some of you played in and around "The Quarry" before it became Hoover. Would love to hear your stories!! (Or, if there's already a thread devoted to this, would someone please tell me?)
