I too remember some posts on this site a few years ago
about the arson fire at Jefferson. I graduated from Jefferson in 1956. In 1959 I was delivering the Chronicle when I heard sirens and saw the smoke from the fire. I
finished my papers, and someone told me that it was coming from Jefferson.
From the earlier postings, someone mentioned that the kid who torched Jefferson, also torched the Boys Scout Hall on 24th near Irving. I don't remember if it was before or after the Jefferson fire.
If my memory is correct, all that remained of the original Jefferson was the auditorium. I vaguely remember reading in the Chronicle that it cost about $600,000 to replace the burned buildings.
