I think that the rink was torn down in the early 90's. There was a big hue and cry about it, too - many of the people in the neighborhood wanted it preserved, but nobody wanted to buy it. Joe Thurston had run the place for so many years, but he wanted to retire, so he offered the property for sale, or to be put up as a city landmark and purchased by the city, but, apparently he got a lot of lip service, and no takers. I believe that he finally tore the place down and developed a multi-unit condo project on the land - and sold the condos himself. I may be wrong, but I think that is how it all went down.
