Please join us for the next WNP Book Club Silent Reading Party at Bazaar Cafe on Saturday, March 8th!

What is a Silent Reading Party, you ask? It’s exactly what it sounds like: from 11:00am to 1:00pm, we’ll hang out with fellow bibliophiles at one of our favorite cafes and read to ourselves. There will be a specially curated soundtrack playing for you, and you’ll have food and beverages available for purchase. We encourage you to bring your copy of "We Run the Tides" by Vendela Vida, WNP Book Club’s featured title for March-April 2025, but you’re welcome to join no matter what you’re reading right now!

WNP Book Club is the perfect excuse to read books and gather around a shared sense of place. Launched in January 2025, this Club is a partnership between Western Neighborhoods Project, your friend community history nonprofit; Sean Connelly, Humanities lecturer emeritus at San Francisco State University; Problem Library, an arts and education space for people of all-ages; and two of our favorite neighborhood businesses: Bazaar Cafe and Green Apple Books. All of our recommendations can be purchased at a 10% discount from either Green Apple on Clement Street or Books on the Park on 9th Avenue. We read one book that has a (sometimes abstract) connection to local history every two months. And, on the second Saturday of the month, WNP hosts either a Silent Reading Party or a salon-style Book Discussion in connection with every book.

This event is free but donations are always helpful and RSVPs are appreciated so the cafe knows what kind of crowd to expect. We look forward to spending a very chill late morning with you soon!
